Philosophy
JB says “I have fire-in-the-belly and a passion for creating customer/client success, for beating business goals, and for developing partners/employees to the fullest of their capabilities”. Wherever possible, JB says “I conduct business face-to-face, because I believe it is best for customers and clients, plus it is best for my organizations.”
For his organizations he adds, “Effective communications with clients and customers results in the best opportunity to ensure my organizations understand our clients’ and customers’ needs, wants and desires. My goal is for my organizations to couple effective understanding of the situation with a systems approach for best-value while also creating an ongoing advisor/client relationship.”
He continues, “As former US Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer, I understand the implementation of ownership of results, the leadership responsibility to meet customer needs and desires, and the associated necessity for attention to detail. Of course, none of this is possible without plain old hard work. I offer full commitment to customers to fulfill the contractual responsibilities and to exceed expectations, where possible and because of mutual partnership with the customer. Our goal is to transition a customer transaction to a client relationship. My partner and I pride ourselves on delivering at both the detail level and the macroscopic level, through thoroughness, accuracy and integrity.”
Biography
The career of JB Barentine has taken him around the world several times, both above the clouds and below the water; and eventually “docked” in Pittsburgh, which he now calls home. He lived in Highland Park for more than a decade and now lives in the North Hills.
Peers in various industries have offered that “JB has been described as Catalyst Champion: Catalyst as change agent for positive corporate growth and profit, Champion for the voice of the customer.”
Earning honors through academics and professional studies, he has a broad and deep understanding of many engineering disciplines, having completed undergraduate engineering work at Georgia Institute of Technology (Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering), and a dual fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that resulted in an MS Degree (Environmental Studies) and post-MS/Professional degree (Systems Engineering).
Following a highly successful career in the US Navy (Submarines and Engineering Duty), JB was selected to executive positions in the AeroSpace/Defense Industry. In a series of diverse positions, he focused on business development and strategic planning, engineering and program management, as well as mentoring the next generation of professionals. Over the course of his military and civilian career, he earned accreditation and designation as a Professional Engineer (PE), a Program Management Professional (PMP), and Defense Acquisition Professional (DAWIA), plus a variety of other executive certifications in leadership, operations and engineering. He has lead and managed organizations from the thousands to the few with equal proficiency, effectiveness and customer focus.
